The dark web is a hidden part of the internet, accessible only with special software like Tor, which allows users and website operators to remain anonymous. Unlike the regular (surface) web we use for watching videos, using social media, and reading emails, the dark web is notorious for facilitating illegal activities. These activities include the sale of stolen data, drugs, weapons, and more.
About 60% of dark web websites are tied to illegal activities, like selling drugs, weapons, and stolen personal data. Things like credit card numbers, passwords, and Social Security numbers are often up for grabs, leading to identity theft and financial fraud. With over 15 billion stolen credentials floating around on the dark web, there's a good chance your personal data could be at risk.
Cybercriminals use tricks like phishing, data breaches, and malware to steal personal data, which then gets sold on the dark web. Reusing passwords on different sites makes it easier for your data to be compromised. To see if your information is on the dark web, Guardio's free dark web scanner can check and let you know if your data has been leaked.
Staying safe from dark web threats requires the following actions:
Use strong, unique passwords: Ensure each of your accounts has a strong, unique password.
Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA): Add an extra layer of security by enabling MFA on all your accounts.
Monitor your accounts: Regularly check your financial statements and credit reports for any unusual activity.
Invest in cybersecurity tools: Guardio's free dark web scanner can monitor your data and alert you if it appears on the dark web.
If your personal information is found on the dark web, take immediate action. Change your passwords and enable MFA. Monitor your accounts for suspicious activity, and consider freezing your credit to prevent new accounts from being opened in your name. Although removing data from the dark web is nearly impossible, using tools like Guardio's dark web scanner can help protect you by alerting you if your information is compromised.

Old Chromebook With Outdated Virus Protection
I have an older model Chromebook with built-in virus protection that Google no longer updates. The C-Book works fine, but I was hesitant to use it due to outdated protection. I also didn't want to buy a new model since mine still works quite well. Guardio to the rescue! Thank you for a good product.

Click Bait
It's good to know that some of the click bait which gets my attention is connected to a sketchy web site. I need the re-affirmation that I have ignored my common sense
